Overclocking

Now that the stock benchmarks have been completed, let’s see how much farther we can push the TeamGroups Xtreem ARGB memory kit. At stock, this kit runs at a speed of 3600MHz at a voltage of 1.35v with CL18-22-22-42 timings.

In trying to overclock the Xtreem ARGB kit we were unable to achieve a speed greater in 3600MHz even when increasing the voltage to 1.50v. Even though we were not able to increase the speed we were able to tighten up the timings considerably with no change to the voltage. After about an hour of tweaking and running a few benchmarks to verify stability, the Xtreem ARGB managed to hold timings of 16-20-20-39.

These changes to the timings didn’t affect the Read/Write/Copy performance but it didn’t lower the latency by about 3ns with a score of 46.6ns.

Re-running the SuperPi benchmark with the new timings we were able to shave off 3.5 seconds with a final score of 6 minutes and 7.5 seconds.
