Overclocking
We started at the default 3700MHz clock speed and kept increasing 100MHz at a time until our benchmark scores passed default.
We finally managed this at 4.30 GHz on our test bench.
Our stock score was 3648, so we just about draw even here.
Moving up to 4.4GHz, we jump almost 60 points.
4.5GHz nets a good jump up to 3827cb.
4.6GHz all core brings us over the 3900 mark.
4.7GHz is about as high as we can go on all cores. We can’t quite break the 4000-point mark, but it’s darn close.
We might get a bit more with more careful tuning, but this voltage level is pushing our temps into the upper 70C range, even with water-cooling. This level gets us about a 9% boost in all core performance, at the cost of a very slight dip in single-threaded performance as the 5900X routinely boosts up to around 4.9GHz when lightly loaded.
